This family, that actually believes they are Christians and doing the work of God have decided to have another child, INSTEAD of adopting a child that doesn’t have a home, or love. These people are yet another example of Christian Hypocrisy that we see around us EVERY day. They will likely make some kind of excuse for not adopting and of course, Jesus would not adopt…right? IDIOTS!
Duggar Family Welcomes Baby #18
ROGERS, Ark. — An Arkansas woman has given birth to her 18th child. Michelle Duggar delivered the baby girl by Caesarean section Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. The baby, named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar, weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 inches long.
“The ultimate Christmas gift from God,” said Jim Bob Duggar, the father of the 18 children. “She’s just absolutely beautiful, like her mom and her sisters.”
The Duggars now have 10 sons and eight daughters.
Jim Bob Duggar said Michelle started having contractions Wednesday night. She needed the C-section, her third, because the baby was lying sideways. Jim Bob said both baby and mother were doing well Thursday night.
“We both would love to have more,” he said.
The cable network TLC broadcasts a weekly show about the Duggars, called “17 Kids and Counting.” Chris Finnegan of TLC _ which handles public relations for the Duggar family _ said the show’s name would be updated to account for the latest addition to the family. He said TLC also will air a show Monday on the baby’s delivery.
Jim Bob Duggar is 43, a year older than his wife. Their oldest child, Joshua, is 20.
The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jordyn-Grace, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 17; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 12; Joy-Anna, 11; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 8; James, 7; Justin, 6; Jackson, 4; Johannah, 3; and Jennifer, 1.
“Our whole family is excited about Jordyn’s addition to our family,” Jim Bob Duggar said. “She’s just perfect in every way.”
(This version CORRECTS the name of the Duggars’ TLC show to ‘17 Kids and Counting,’ not ‘Seventeen and Counting.’))

Because having another kid makes them hypocrites… are you familiar with the term ’straw man’?
December 19, 2008 at 7:32 pm
zacharias, Let me apply a little logic. If I was Jesus, would I spend more money to have my own kid and more money to raise another child (after I already had 17) or would I take all the money and save the lives of many children that don’t have clean water to drink, food or medication or even shelter. I could adopt a child and also help to save on natural resources and more. I am sure Jesus would just keep having kids. Not only are they hypocrites and selfish, they are complete fools. But I am sure their God talked to them directly and told them they should have more children. screw the child that will die tonight because of decision of like they make.

Why have any kids at all then when there are others that need to be adopted? Are you to say that any religion or culture, or belief system which advocates helping the needy (an ideal I”m sure even athiests can ascribe to) to be considered hypocrites if the have a child instead of adopting?

I am only saying, if I am a Christians and I know that I should do what Jesus would do and often tell my kids and others that we should do what Jesus would do. Then I would adopting. Now, I am talking about someone that has 18 kids. 18 kids! and they are going to have more or want more. What would be the right thing to do? Everyone should advocate helping the needy and it has nothing to do with such thing. Do like Jesus would do. In the mind of Christians…most of them….do like Jesus would do unless you just feel it doesn’t apply to you. It is no different then most Christians ignoring what Jesus told them directly concerning GIVING.
Examples:
Matthew 19:21
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Mark 10:21
Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.
Luke 12:33
“Sell your possessions and give to the poor.”
Luke 14:33
“Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.”
There are volumes of examples that can be provided for which we can demonstrate the hypocrisy of Christian. If they are going to be like Jesus, they would NOT have children, sell all their possessions and travel around helping others and teaching them “by example” how we should take care of one another. But we all know that isn’t going to happen. Many of them are here blogging. Wisely using their time using the electricity to power their worldly computers to type over the expensive internet connections to talk about their version of God and make excuses for why they are not doing as Jesus would do.
Some people believe in their god or religion and it is not a problem. Then we have extreme people that fly planes into buildings, or maybe torture a witch or two to death by fire. We have people that have kids and then we have idiots that have 18 kids. It is selfish and I believe I read in another article that they have relied on government help and handouts from others to help take care of their kids….so it is a burden on society which I would personally consider above and beyond what should be expected. Would Jesus do that? Of course, there are those that will like to make excuses and attempt to say Jesus would do those things or that they for some reason are exempt from doing what jesus taught. They are Hypocrites.
I don’t see a single Christian behaving like Jesus told them to behave and taught them to behave by example. NOT ONE. I see many of them give an excuse and say, we try. It is obvious that NOT one of them are actually trying. What is so hard about giving up your possessions and trusting in this God they claim is real and loves them and will take care of them? He only died and suffered for the “us”…apparently. Yet Christians don’t even trust this God enough to do what he asked them to do. Apparently, there is much more important things in life to do, like blogging or having the 19th child. Yeah…i call them hypocrites and very selfish individuals. However, there version of a God seems to think they should have 50.

I can understand your frustration with the apparent hypocricy of modern, and especially Western, Christianity. Do you live here in the US? If so then you’ve probably got most of your experience with Christians of the Protestant tradition, which sadly, has become very misguided and watered down. They have abandoned most of the traditional doctrines which have been handed down in favor of ‘doing it themselves’ and the whole ‘me and my bible’ mentality.
I can’t speak for the Duggars so I don’t know their motivation for wanting so many kids. I too think it’s a little odd, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it is going against a teaching they claim to follow since no where does Christ command us to take in other kids before having our own. And as far as doing as Jesus would do, well, if I may be so bold I would venture to guess that he wouldn’t have kids period since being perfect (due to being God AND man), he was not subject to the same lustful passions as us. I see what you mean here, I just think you’ve been a little harsh with it and decided to target their faith due to your anti-Christian disposition.
As for the giving up all your possessions, well, that is the ultimate act of devotion. It’s a path that not everyone is able to take, but believe me, there are thousands right now who have done, and countless others who have during history. The majority of these people are monks. Right not on Mt. Athos, the spiritual center of Eastern Orthodox monasticism, there are around 2,000 monks alone; a number which is painfully small historically.
Christianity is not a ’social’ religion in the sense that Christ came as some kind of social reformer with the goal making life on earth peaceful and perfect. Unfortunately this is the stance that much of Protestant Christianity, and even to a lesser extent Roman Catholicism, takes. This is actually a heresey known as chiliasm or millennialism and is the belief that there is a ‘new age to come’ a ‘golden age’ of peace and prosperity on earth. From a Christian viewpoint this is false since we live in a fallen world which progressively getting worse.
No, Christianity does not concern itself with this world as much as preparing ourselves for the next. Our main focus is not on helping others but the helping of others and being nice etc. should be a ’side effect’ of the love we have in God and a natural extension of the belief that we were all created in the image and likeness of God.
Again, I can see your point here, and I wouldn’t say that your frustration is entirely off point, but going around condemning others, calling them hypocrites, citing all the ways they are doing things wrong… how does that make you any different from the bible-thumpers who go around preaching hell-fire and damnation to anyone who doesn’t believe they way they do? Your methods are the same: point out the flaws, and then viciously attack them.

I am not really frustrated with any of the hypocrisy. I am just pointing out the obvious. I currently live here in the USA but have lived several years in other countries. I have yet to see a difference in the types of “christians”.
What the Duggars do may not be against any specific doctrine but Jesus did teach about putting others first. Little things like do unto others as you would have done onto yourself. So, instead of helping the child in need, I have my own child because that is what i would want done unto me if I was a child in need? I could make many examples.
As far as Jesus having kids, well, there are some that teach that Jesus did have kids and did marry and it is very likely. However, the evidence against Jesus having been real or a god is far greater than that for him being a God. Some provide rather convincing evidence that there was never even a man named Jesus that fits this story.
I do see that I often can be harsh in my words as I am not much of a writer. However, I just try to say it however it is about anything I may be writing about. I know very well what jesus taught and what he did to demonstrate how others should be. I waited some time before I had kids and I had a guy I worked with tell me I was selfish to not have kids. I immediately told him he was far more selfish to have his own kids and NOT adopt. To my amazement, he didn’t make an excuse and said that I was correct and he never thought of it that way. However, he was not a Christian.
Giving up all our possessions is like you stated the “ultimate act of devotion” that not all is able to take. Well, I guess if they can’t take it, it is a good example of how much they actually believe in this GOD and appreciate what he has done for them…tortured and died for them…apparently. I can say it is not too difficult. The reason I lived in other countries is that I DID give up ALL that I have and move to help mostly children. Not as a Christian but as a person that was struck by the lack of love shown by others, ESPECIALLY those that claim to be Christians. In fact, I invited a “devout” christian couple to join me. Of course they denied. Additionally, I would find Christians in English speak groups in these countries attempting to “win souls” and when I asked if they would join me and a few others to help, they didn’t have time. And they were already there. Clearly, they didn’t read the bible and how we should help others in need. Additionally, they didn’t understand it is NOT up to them to win souls as it will ONLY happen if God wants it to happen…according to scripture.
Yes, many people believe in ages to come. Of course, this is part of religion from the beginning and it is divided into ages.
It is silly to think the world is “fallen” If one believes in the bible, then they must admit that God planned it all that way. Scripture makes it clear that he planned it all from the beginning, to include the ending. “EVERYTHING is OF HIM”. It is not of Man…according to scripture. Unless Christians want to tell us it is up to them and apparently God is not ALL powerful. If he is all powerful, then “yet all things are of God” and the word all is rather easy to understand. Scriptures often repeats things that seem important to communicate. like “everything is of him” and “yet all is of god” and “god operates all in all” and “you can do NOTHING but for the father” and “mens’ steps are not of himself” and on and on. man christians will say satan is a fallen angel and yet again, they can not prove it with scripture. he didn’t fall, if one knows the bible, Satan is working according to God’s plan from the beginning. The way God designed….according to scripture. So you can see how it is easy for me to see they hypocrisy of basically every Christian I have ever met.
If helping others is a side effect of “we” have for God then it is clear the love is not that strong or else we would not have a world like we do. Do you have a computer, a car, a home, several changes of clothes, get the medication you need when you need it? eat when you want and get access to clean water? you have the power to give up your things and saves lives and end suffering so why not do it? computers cost a few 1,000, cars many more, homes many more and so on. I see many christians blogging and showing photos and discussing all the thing they have. i see hundreds of cars in some of the mega churches around this world and people going into the church and watch the preacher on mega tv screens. the money being spent in the name of god on ourselves is against the teachings of christ.
for me to point out what others are doing wrong with respect to their belief is not the same as me point out what you do wrong with respect to my belief. do you understand what I am stating? it is far different for me to say look, you are not doing what jesus taught instead of me saying you are not doing what I think you would do.
Christians are to be an example and there are millions that claim to be christians. I personally do not think there is a single christian …not a true one. however the bible, according to christians say there are few and many. if you know the bible the few are very, very few indeed. yet they all seem to think they are part of the special few.
however, none of them seem to understand much of the true teachings of the bible. that i why I point some of it out in my first 4 posts and will provide more soon. I am just busy with work at the moment. I came back to america recently and started working for money again as it is now time for me to be selfish a little and plan for my future. as i am not a christian and do not trust in god for things now or in the future and since i got out of this religion thing, my life has been far better.
i find it interesting how many christians claim god will provide and heal them if they are sick and then they run to the doctor to be healed after they pray to god. where is the faith. again, hypocrites. i see many of them tell us how they can not wait to be with god but when they get a terminal illness, they are not so much in a hurry and rush to find a cure and pray like hell to be healed. of course, not trusting in god and instead opting for treatment. the hypocrisy is everywhere and I just point it out when i see it. i am not at all frustrated but find it rather amusing most of the time.
peace
