Bush ‘seriously considering’ pardon of Iraq war vet who killed unarmed Iraqi civilian.»

vela.gifIn Feb. 2008, a military judge convicted Sgt. Evan Vela, a 24-year-old U.S. Army sniper, “and sentenced him to 10 years in prison for killing an Iraqi civilian who wandered into the hiding place where six soldiers were sleeping.” Vela, who was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, was found guilty of planting an AK-47 on the dead Iraqi man’s body and of lying to military investigators about the shooting. According to a letter sent by the White House to Vela’s family, President Bush is now “strongly considering” a request to pardon Vela:

The father of an eastern Idaho soldier says he has received a letter from the White House confirming that his request that his son be pardoned by President Bush is being “seriously considered.”

Curtis Carnahan says he received the letter last week.

Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID) have written letters to Bush on behalf of Vela, urging that the president grant him clemency. Crapo and Simpson argued that Vela “was simply following the orders of his superiors.”

Yeah, let just free all the murdering idiots and continue to send a message to our children that it is fine to murder.    Why is it that the secular people seem to have morals and the Christians want to free murdering, lying idiots?

I guess it was the Christian President that lied to take us to war the murders and tortures humans and he was elected by Christians even after they knew of these lies and crimes against humans.  So it must be ok…they believe in God.  Wait, those that crashed planes into our buildings believed in God too.

  • true I would as of now be more concerned with Obama, or is that true much to ask?

    http://www.nathanaelsblog@wordpress.com

    • why would i be concerned. when bush was running the first time, i was concerned…for good reasons. then, i was even more concerned when people like you voted for him the second time. look what we have now.

i think it is really interesting that obama isn’t even president yet and people like Fox News and those that watch it just spew hate and want to rant about how terrible he is. he hasn’t even done anything other than elect a rather good team.

never caught fox doing that to bush or chenney in the beginnig or during the entire time he was in office. no real criticism of them at all…mostly all praise.

i would love to see obama and bush put next to each other and then asked common sense questions about politics, life, and so forth. bush can’t even finish complete sentences and never could. the other day Bush was asked about Gaza and he said “let obama handle it”. Wow

    • i am not sure i understand your comment. sorry. obama appears to be very intelligent, logical and he has a good plan. additionally, he has surrounded himself with very intelligent and experienced people. i hope that he removes some of the powers that cheney and bush gave to themselves so he can not be a dictator or “the decider”. He apparently knows the struggle of the less fortunate, those without jobs and that are losing homes. many of his ideas may not agree with yours but again, it is an act of the people that elected him. like all those that got upset with me for bashing bush around his second term, they would say i need to give him a chance. they still claim he is a good president. yet i waiting 4 years to give him the opportunity and he failed. people aren’t even trying to give obama a chance.

i don’t agree with everything he stated or plans. but, he clearly has a plan and he is clearly far more intelligent than bush and he clearly is willing to take many opinions and make logic decisions. bush was the “decider” …he made the decision and even when the evidence was against what he wanted to do…he did it. everyone deserves a chance, especially when everything points to it being a good choice.

  • your right eahe “appears” to be, what has he done..Ah yes.

    1. He helped (maybe not directly) his governer sell his senate seat

    2. He has refused to take a stance within the gaza conflict

3.He has nominated an intel officer thats knows knowing about intelligence

Oh yeah he has made some real logical choices thus far.

your right Obama does need the chance. The president is elected by the people not the other way around.

Then again when the chips are down would Obama do the same for us?

    • You watch too much fox news. the hate channel is very good at brainwashing others that don’t search for the whole story. When the chips are down, did bush do anything for us? I don’t know what obama would do for us but it appears he is really working to do much more than bush has every done. everything bush has done has harmed america and the world…most everything. additionally, obama is NOT president yet so i would be more concerend that our president is not concerned with gaza and has said he will leave it for obama. obama is not president and has no power to do anything. i hope obama will not side with Israel and I personally think israel is yet another religious, murdering people. but i guess their god wants them to kill people even though he said thou shalt not kill. hypocrisy.

look at america now, after two terms of the bush president for which you likely supported. do you realize how bad things are for most people in america and in the world now…thanks to bush and cheney? and you are pointing fingers at obama when he has not even got into office? i would think we should expose bush and cheney for the harm they have done to us all. ensure it will not happen again.

if you just hate someone so much, you are never going to see the good side of what they can do. I gave bush a chance after he was elected and didn’t even complain about his mistakes. after it was clear in 4 years, i started to speak out. you, just don’t like obama and start to lash out before he is even in office.

fox news does it each and every day and pretend to be fair. yet like you, they didn’t do any of that to bush. they praised bush even when he did the most evil of things. they can’t name a single thing good that came from bush and yet they praise him all the time.

i personally voted for obama but that doesn’t mean i will stand here and defend him if he spies on us, if he tortures humans, if he lies to go to war. i will be the first to condemn such acts. that is the difference in me and you.

  • 1. I got most of my intel from CNN and other LibTARD as well as Conservative sources. CNN is fair? Then explain why Obama during the Campaign, was fawned over (giving them thrills, having not one of his faults was looked into more closly into) while Sarah Palin and John Mccain was beat-up every at every opportunity

2.I don’t hate anybody(until they prove me wrong..)True, I don’t know Obama personally but something tells me he would tell me what I want to hear just to shut out the truth as he would you

    3. I did vote for Bush. (I do dislike many of the choices he made.) As he is stepping onto Marine one for the last time a few I am willing to cut the man some slack seeing as he will have retired from to most stressful job in the US

    4. I would Thank You not to assume you know what drives me or who I am, I realize I am not perfect nobody is. (I only know i who was, and still is) but I havebeen granted, (as pro the constitution) a RIGHT to be heard.

    • I am glad you watch other news stations and not just Fox. I actually watch Fox and then read the news to see how off balance Fox is most of the time. Fox news is a real joke but for some reason i enjoy watching them spew hate as i know they are the ones that are harmed through this process. they deserve the miserable lives they have because of their extreme hate.

It may be true that Obama would tell you something you want to hear. However, we don’t really know that at the moment and would it be any different than any of the others. Bush outright lied to all of us and they loved him more for it. however, even fox news admits that obama is being very transparent in how he is setting up his government and many of the other details for which Bush and Cheney would NEVER do. so really, which would be better….bush or obama..based on just that one point you are trying to make. what politician hasn’t lied to us? therefore, the more transparent they are the less likely they are able to get away with lies.

well, i understand your opinion about bush but here is my view. now remember, i am not a democrat or a republican. i am a white man and my income is higher than the average joe and own firearms for which i believe is our right. with all that, i would likely fit a republican profile. additionally, i am against all the bailouts and think we should let the auto industry and the banking and loan groups sink and the strongest shall live on. again, more republican than dem. However, i am independent. i think it is ignorant to pick one group and pretend they are right every time as everyone is different and things change over time.
ok..back to bush….i believe bush and cheney should be investigated and if found to have committed crimes, they should be tried like you or i would be tried for any crime we commit. unlike obama, bush and cheney classified all kinds of stuff just to keep it out of the media. so again, which method is better for america and the world? i don’t think the bush method is and i am willing to give obama the chance. Bush had many chances to take the straight and narrow but he didn’t.

I apologize if i upset you for saying what i thought about you and why feel the way you do. of course i wouldn’t know for sure but we can often get to the truth by making such arguments and then obtaining information and evolving our impressions. which is what happens when you reply and tell me more about your thoughts and opinions.

i also agree you have the right to be heard and i would NEVER try to take that from you and i don’t believe i have. i do like to hear your opinion even though you and i may not agree it helps me understand more of the many personalities that make up humanity. peace

    • Yesterday in his CNBC interview, President-elect Obama said that he doesn’t plan on living in a “bubble” during his time in office and will be “open to outside information, particularly criticism.” “I very rarely read good press,” he added. “I often read bad press, not because I agree with it, but because I want to get a sense of are there areas where I’m falling short and I can do better.” his opinion is a drastic departure from President Bush, who never reads newspapers. In 2003, Bush told Fox News, “I glance at the headlines just to kind of (get) a flavor of what’s moving. I rarely read the stories.”

Everything that Obama is doing is far different than Bush and he actually cares about what is said and takes that information in and uses it for improving. He doesn’t think he is the “decider” and what he says goes. He truly appears to want to change things, improve things and I would bet that being the first black president that he will want to do down in history as really making a difference. I know if I was the first black or woman president, I would do everything to ensure I made the best decisions. Why would he want to do something to harm america? really..why? He is the american story, poor, received a great education, worked is way up and is now president and he lived a life as a man from a minority group that has historical been put down and beat back by those that run the country…white, old men.

Think about it…really. He absolutely does not want to fail and he most definitely wants to go down in history as the greatest president of our times. Imagine what that would prove! I believe he will at times piss off the left and at times piss off the right and at times piss me off. but overall, i honestly believe he wants to succeed.

    • i do want to point out that you make comments like “libtard” clearly shows you have a bias and to make decisions with such a bias will often result in you believing false information. clearly you don’t like liberal and that is part of the problem in america. dems hating republicans and the other way around. that doesn’t help america. again, Obama has made it clear he wants to bring us together. give him a chance. just because it doesn’t all go our way or it all go my way or it all go the way of the liberals doesn’t mean it isn’t the best thing for us all has a country and a world. doesn’t that make sense?

    • did you notice that on Fox News, John McCain called Obama’s national security team “excellent”? Also, did you notice that although McConnell supported and made excuses for the bush administration, Obama appointed him to the advisory board on intel? this is pissing off some of the dems but clearly shows how smart he is. He wants to ensure people have heated and intelligent discussions to obtain the best possible course of action. very smart and wise leader.
